HAMILTON, Ontario --- With tons of smiles through the pits, it was easy to see that Kid’s Ride Night was a success at Flamboro Speedway with a bunch of the younger racing fans getting to ride around the speedway on-board a racecar. Though on top of that, they were treated to some great racing on-track.


Ontario Modified Racing Series

John Baker Jr. took his next step to taking over the points lead, winning the first feature on Saturday night ahead of Chad Strawn, Alex Cuzzilla, Rick Warnes, Rob Warnes, Willow Barberstock, and Randy Hollingsworth.


John Baker Jr. then made it a daily double by winning the second feature ahead of Chad Strawn, Alex Cuzzilla, Rick Warnes, Randy Hollingsworth, Rob Warnes, and Willow Barberstock.


Ray’s Towing & Recovery Super Stocks

Justin Collison got his second feature win of 2019 ahead of Brad Collison, Steve Cashmore, and AJ Miller. Randy Rusnell, Kelsey Lamont, Dennis Cybalski, and Austin Penney failed to finish, while Nick Troback was disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct.


Brad Collison snagged his sixth feature victory of 2019 ahead of Justin Collison, Dennis Cybalski, Nick Troback, Steve Cashmore, and AJ Miller. Randy Rusnell, Kelsey Lamont, and Austin Penney failed to take the green flag.


Virtue of a win and a second, Justin Collison earned a locked spot in the Canadian Short Track Nationals at Jukasa Motor Speedway at the end of the month.


Klotz Auto Repair and Machine Shop Mini Stocks

Kyle Steckly got his first career feature victory ahead of Jake Watson, Erik Dalla Riva, Karl Sault, and Dylan Sharpe. Kyle Istead finished sixth, followed by Jonathan Ayrton, Kaitlyn Wallace, Mike Hooper, and Tyler Lewis. Shawn Taylor finished 11th, followed by Kyle DaSilva, Matt Young, and Wendy Adams.


Shawn Taylor snagged his second feature win of 2019 ahead of Kyle Steckly, Karl Sault, Jake Watson, and Tyler Lewis. Jonathan Ayrton finished sixth, followed by Erik Dalla Riva, Kyle Istead, Dylan Sharpe, and Mike Hooper. Matt Young finished 11th, followed by Kaitlyn Wallace, Wendy Adams, and Kyle DaSilva.


McClurkin Properties Cambridge Pure Stocks

Mark Thorne won the first feature for his second victory of the season ahead of Bobby Mercer, Leo Labarbera, Jared Bodnar, and Kyle Lucas. Wayde Thorne finished sixth, followed by Jeff Kells, Jamie Whittam, Jimmy Hooper, Courtney Scott, Brian Gamble, and Dale Lucas.


Courtney Scott got her first feature victory of 2019 ahead of Bobby Mercer, Jared Bodnar, Mark Thorne, and Leo Labarbera. Jimmy Hooper and Wayde Thorne followed, with Dale Lucas in eighth after borrowing Whittam’s car. Kyle Lucas finished ninth, followed by Jeff Kells and Brian Gamble.


Canadian Vintage Modifieds

TJ Marshall won the first feature for his third win of 2019 ahead of Mike Podd, Mike Klotz, Max Wright, Steve Trendell, Ian McIntyre, and Amanda Stoner.


TJ Marshall then drove through the field in the second feature for the daily double, ahead of Max Wright, Steve Trendell, Mike Podd, Mike Klotz, Amanda Stoner, and Ian McIntyre.


Pro 4 Modifieds

Stan Pokupec may have crossed the finish line first in the initial feature for the Pro 4 Modifieds, but he would be disqualified post-race in tech. Mike Westwood finished second, followed by Dan Pettit, Cliff Hodgkinson, Shannon Morris, Mark Lucas, and Dave Hodgkinson.


Mark Lucas got his fourth feature victory of 2019 in the second 20-lap event ahead of Mike Westwood, Cliff Hodgkinson, Dan Pettit, Shannon Morris, Dave Hodgkinson. Shane Carey failed to finish feature two, while Stan Pokupec did not take the green flag.

The  action continues this Saturday, August 10 at Flamboro Speedway with the second round of the Grisdale Triple Crown for the Pro Late Models, featuring a 100-lap feature. Shae Gemmell won the first round in May, and enters this weekend with momentum after scoring his first career APC Auto Parts United Late Models of Ontario Tour victory on Sunday at Sauble Speedway.


Also on deck for Saturday at Flamboro is the Klotz Auto Repair & Engine Machine Shop Mini Stocks, McClurkin Cambridge Pure Stocks, and the Canadian Vintage Modifieds. Please note that Sunday is the rain date should the show not run on Saturday.

The pit gate opens at 3pm, followed by the front gate opening at 5pm with racing starting at 6:00pm.


Also, as of note, there have been some schedule changes / additions made for the upcoming weeks.


On Saturday August 24th, the Highwayman Vintage Car Club will be in attendance so come early and have a look under the hoods and take some pictures of all the old cars and trucks. They will be making a parade lap during intermission on-track, as well. This night is scheduled to feature the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds, Living Lighting OSCAAR Pro Sprints, Knightworks Design OSCAAR Hot Rods, and the McClurkin Properties Pure Stocks, as well as the Jukasa Canadian Short Track Nationals qualifier for the Grisdale Racing Products Late Models.


The demolition derby has been cancelled for Saturday, August 31, with a King/Queen King of the Hill race being run in its place. Spectators are welcome on-track to race whatever they drove to the speedway that night, with $500 to the winner. Fans will race each other for one lap, with eliminations taking place until there’s just a winner remaining. Those participating are asked to bring a helmet for their safety, please.


The night of racing will include the Canadian Vintage Modifieds, Klotz Auto Repair & Engine Machine Shop Mini Stocks, McClurkin Cambridge Pure Stocks, and the Pro 4 Modifieds.
